A person who contaminated treats with tranquilliser and distributed them to youngsters at a summer program in Leicestershire has confessed to sexual offences against two boys who were nine and ten years old.
The defendant was detained after eight minors and one adult fell ill at Stathern Lodge in July.
The elderly man, from that region, pleaded guilty to a series of 17 offences when he stood at the courthouse on the end of the week.
Yet, he disputed one of the sexual offences he was facing, which was involving a nine-year-old child.
Ruben was held in detention before a subsequent court date on 28 November.
'Sweet game'
Mary Prior KC, presenting evidence, described the criminal behavior to the judicial body.
She said his those affected were children from difficult backgrounds who were staying at a youth camp which he operated.
Ruben conducted a "sweet game" with the minors, the prosecutor explained, in which he would enter the children's bedrooms when they were settling down and request they to eat sweets "as fast as possible".
She stated to the judge the defendant had conducted this practice with the children "repeatedly", and children had previously become sick the following morning.
She stated the man had been capable of justifying this repeatedly as the minors being "overexcited from fun", until his stepchild had suspicions in recently.
The prosecutor added: "In the summer" his stepson had worries about the situation, for good reason.
"They decided to examine in the individual's items."
The legal counsel stated objects including baby oil, petroleum jelly and medical needles were located, and his family member alerted the authorities about his concerns.
She stated the man went on to play the "treat game" with six children that time - July 26th - and they were all sick the following morning.
"Law enforcement" had not responded by that time," she added.
The oversight body, the police conduct office, had stated that it was examining the police response of the incident.
The prosecutor explained the minors were struggling to walk due to being ill, so Ruben's stepson called the police again.
She stated the defendant then conducted the "treat game" in a area of five youngsters.
