19 of Medvedev's 21 championships have been won on hardcourt
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.
The Russian, a former world number one, has endured a difficult year, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the American major.
Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in particular - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually separating with former trainer Cervara.
Presently training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's initial championship following the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt after spring of 2023.
The win also indicates he has secured twenty-one victories at twenty-one different tournaments.
"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my children together, so to win a championship is particularly special," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This championship is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I achieved when my child Alisa was born was for her."
The tennis star, the past champion, had lost his previous six title deciders, featuring in that event earlier this year.
Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had caused some to doubt if his skill to play at the highest level was finished.
But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and compete assertively, backed up by an improved serving game.
Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging opponent, winning 4 of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.
The pair swapped service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his initial tour title, took control to push for a third set.
He saved 4 initial chances in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to secure the win.
Fittingly, he clinched victory with a point at the net area, with Moutet incapable to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
